An everything shower is exactly what it sounds like… a full-body reset where you take care of everything in one intentional, elevated routine! It’s not your quick rinse-and-go shower either, this is the shower where you deep clean your scalp, exfoliate your skin, shave, mask, hydrate, and finish with a full skincare routine feeling unstoppable and ready to take on the world. If you are feeling down or in a slump, try an everything shower and trust me, you will leave feeling brand new! Wondering how I do an everything shower, minus the toxins!? Keep reading!
Before you turn on the shower, make sure you have all of your products and tools ready to go. To make this as easy as possible, I made a cart with literally ALL you need, just click here. This should include your shampoo, conditioner or hair mask, body wash, face cleanser, exfoliant, shave cream, razor, towel, body lotion, skincare, and anything else you want to use. Having everything within reach makes the routine feel smooth and relaxing instead of chaotic! Be sure to leave ample time here, this is no quickie! To begin, I also love to start by lighting a cozy, non-toxic candle, you know… to really set the vibe!
This is a critical step so many skip but it really makes a huge difference. I personally take it a step further and only use a wooden brush to reduce frizz. Use a brush or wide-tooth comb to gently remove tangles before your hair gets wet. This helps prevent breakage and makes it easier to wash and condition your hair evenly.
If your hair feels dry or your scalp needs extra care, before I even get into the shower, I will apply a hair oil or scalp treatment before showering. Focus on the scalp or the mid-lengths and ends to ensure you get max moisture! Let this treatment sit for about 10 to 30 minutes before getting in the shower for an extra boost of moisture and TLC to the scalp and strands. If your focus is on hair growth, I personally love the Plant Therapy Duo or the Under Luna Hop Growth Serum!
Using a high quality dry brush before showering can help slough off dead skin and boost circulation which can help your body detox and stimulate the lymphatic system. When I make time, this is one of my favorite things to do! Use gentle upward strokes on dry skin, especially on the legs, arms, and areas that tend to feel rough. Skip this step if your skin is sensitive or irritated or opt for a silk exfoliating mit instead!

Once you get in the shower, start by fully soaking your hair and body with warm, never hot, water. Make sure your hair is completely saturated before applying any shampoo so it can cleanse properly. Making sure your hair is totally wet is critical to healthy hair.
If your scalp is feeling dry or with build up, using a scalp scrub or scalp exfoliating treatment is a game changer, my personal fave is the Rahua Scalp Exfoliating Shampoo which is a mix between a scrub and a shampoo but it leaves my scalp feeling brand new! Focus on buildup-prone areas like the top of the scalp and around the back of the head. Gently massage it in with your fingertips, never your nails, then rinse well. I also love using a silicone scalp massager for max results.
After you exfoliate the scalp, you will then move on to shampoo. Apply your favorite shampoo to your scalp and massage it in thoroughly with your fingertips. Focus mainly on the scalp rather than the ends. If you use a lot of styling products, dry shampoo, or have oily hair, shampoo a second time for a deeper clean. Right now, I have been loving the Rahua Color Full Shampoo to make my natural brown pop and shine so bright, but on days where I want a boost of volume, I opt for the Rahua Voluminous! The Rahua line is awesome because each one contains the Rahua oil which pushes shine and moisture deep into the hair follicle to create the prettiest shine possible, all natural.
After shampooing, apply your hair mask or conditioner from the mid-lengths down to the ends. Avoid putting heavy conditioner right on the scalp unless the product is made for that. Clip your hair up and let the product sit while you do the rest of your shower. My favorite hair mask is usually the Rahua Omega 9 as it’s a salon quality hair mask that I love being able to do at home. It leaves my hair so silky smooth and with no frizz. For conditioner, my fave for many years now has been the Under Luna Revive. It deeply hydrates my dry ends and leaves it smelling like fresh Jasmine! It’s the perfect texture too, not too thin or watery, just right.
While your hair is masking or conditioning, you will want to use that time to cleanse the bod and shave. Use your Aleavia body wash to wash your skin and remove sweat, oil, and dirt. This is the only body wash I have suggested for almost 10 years now because it’s the best. It’s made with Prebiotics which means it actually helps rebalance your microbiome to be the best it can be. Perfect for acne-prone or sensitive skin too. You can use your hands, a soft washcloth, or a body sponge depending on what your skin tolerates best but this can be used head to toe, even as shampoo and especially as a feminine wash. I am obsessed with the Orchid scent, so girly and glam, however, we have a ton to choose from here! If you have body odor, now is the best time to apply your Rustic Maka Charcoal + Clay soap. Let this sit for a few minutes and then rinse that odor causing bacteria away!
If you shave, do it after your skin has been under warm water for a few minutes. This softens the hair and makes shaving easier. Apply your same Aleavia body wash from above as it makes the best shave gel! Use slow, gentle strokes and rinse the razor often as you go. The only razor I will use is the Leaf Shave as there are no toxic, lotion strips here, no ma’am! This is the best shave of your life, don’t be scared, the head pivots and it’s super easy to learn!
Now that you are all nice and shaved, use a body scrub, exfoliating mitt, or gentle exfoliating treatment on areas that tend to get dry or rough like the arms, legs, elbows, knees, and heels. This step helps smooth the skin and can also help prevent ingrown hairs. Do not scrub too hard, especially if you just shaved. Right now, I have been loving the Conscious Coconut scrubs, they smell divine and are the perfect texture. Not too thick, not too sparse, just right. You can view all of my fave body scrubs here. Also, we never use toxic loofah’s or sponges made of plastic. Always opt for a more natural loofah like Floofah, instead!
If you used a body scrub, shaving cream, or a lot of product, you may want to do a quick second body cleanse using your above Aleavia. This helps remove any leftover residue and leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean.
Next, you’re going to wash your face with a gentle cleanser. If you were wearing makeup or sunscreen, you can do a double cleanse by first using an oil or balm cleanser, then following with your regular face cleanser. Keep this step gentle and avoid over-scrubbing. For me, my go-to cleanse is the RMS Cleansing Balm to remove SPF and makeup, followed by their Kakadu Gel Cleanser. What’s great is, you can get minis to try first if needed or on a budget!
If it is your exfoliation day, which it likely is as we tend to forget to do it, now is when you will want to apply a gentle face exfoliant according to the product directions. If you prefer, you can use a hydrating or clarifying face mask instead. This step is optional and should be done 2-3 times a week max to remove dead skin cells. If you have normal skin (no acne) then you will love the Acai Exfoliator. Think of it like an adult version of our fave apricot scrub we grew up on. If you do have acne-prone skin, you will want to use an enzyme mask exfoliation instead. My fave for that is the Earth Harbor Glow Juice as it uses gentle acids to eat away at dead skin instead of a physical scrub making it ideal for acne prone girlies.
Now that you have finished shaving and exfoliating, you can now take your hair down from your clip and rinse out your conditioner or hair mask completely. Make sure no product is left behind, especially near the scalp or nape of the neck. You can finish with slightly cooler water if you like the feel and want hair to look smoother!
When you get out of the shower, use a towel to gently pat your skin dry instead of rubbing it dry, this is key! Leave your skin slightly damp so your body products absorb better. Did you know that you never want to dry your skin entirely before you apply your body care!? This takes the water from your shower and locks it all in with your body care last so yes, you want to leave your skin wet to apply body care.
This is one of the most important steps: Apply your lotion, cream, or body oil while your skin is still slightly damp to help lock in moisture and keep your skin soft. If you have a decent budget, the best body balm that money can buy is the Agent Nateur Body Balm as it’s a luxury anti-aging treatment for your body. It feels sooo silky smooth and leaves your skin with the most gorgeous glow, you will feel like a goddess. We also just got in the Agent Nateur Body Kit which is beyond amazing if you can budget it. This includes their luxe body wash, body balm and body oil, heaven sent! If you are on a budget, have no fear as we still have some amazing options. The Carter and Jane body butters are super luxe also, pure whipped, fluffy perfection in a huge variety of 100% Natural scents! If you want a more everyday, light weight option, the Aleavia Body Lotions are a must. These are again prebiotic so they actually improve the bacteria levels on the skin. If you love a body oil, you will absolutely love the Carter and Jane option here too! My obsession is the Island Girl scent but we have over 160 body oils to choose from so you can view those here.

Once your skin is dry enough, next, you will apply your fave non-toxic deodorant. This is also the time to use foot cream, cuticle oil, or any other body care extras you like. My best selling deodorant brand is Rustic Maka as they make 100% natural, aluminum free options with NO baking soda which is a must for me. I have been loving the Pearl Whisper scent lately, it’s super fresh, exactly as you want a deodorant to be. It reminds me of what Secret smells like but, all-natural, of course. Another fun option are the Esas Body Deodorizers which are exactly as they sound, a spray on deodorant and body spray all in one. A La Mer is my absolute obsession, I could soak in it!
Now, we are going to get back to our hair. Now is the time to use a leave-in conditioner, detangler, curl cream, or hair serum depending on your hair type. Apply it gently and evenly, focusing mostly on the mid-lengths and ends unless the product is specifically for the scalp. For me, I detangle with the Tek Detangling Brush, Rahua Detangler and then, Heat Protectant followed by the Yarok Mousse for a boost of volume to my fine roots. All of these items come in minis too so… minimal commitment. If you are on a hair growth journey, I also highly suggest the Agent Holi Growth leave in treatment to max growth! Want a custom hair care routine made just for your hair type!? Book a FREE consult with our team anytime.
Now, is the time to move into your regular skincare routine. Start with toner or a hydrating mist if you use one, then apply serums, eye cream, moisturizer, and face oil. This helps seal in hydration and leaves your skin feeling fresh and cared for. My skin care routine always changes but right now, I am still using the Agent Nateur line. I use pretty much all things Agent as it’s a super luxurious, anti-aging line with super clean, high performance ingredients. If you get just one item, I would suggest the Holi Bright Mask as it truly is botox in a bottle to give you the most stunning, toned, glowy, bright skin! Want a custom skin care routine made just for your skin type!? Book a FREE consult with our team anytime. We break it down, step by step, catered exactly to you and your goals and needs. It’s a priceless totally free service.
Another great option here is to skip the skincare and apply your fave facial patch instead since it cannot be worn over skincare. I personally love the under eye patches and the forehead patches the most. Silicone patches work by creating a seal over the skin that locks in hydration, helping to instantly plump and smooth fine lines while preventing moisture loss. They’re a non-toxic, reusable way to support your skin barrier and soften wrinkles over time without harsh treatments!
If you want to make it a true everything shower, finish with the little extras that make you feel put together. This can include brushing your teeth with a non-toxic toothpaste, applying the best lip balm ever: The Activist Manuka Honey lip balm, trimming or filing your nails, doing cuticle care, gua sha, grooming brows with a tinted brow gel, putting on cozy organic clothes, spritzing on a 100% natural perfume and settling in for the rest of your evening with a good showing some healthy snacks. HEAVEN!
Don’t forget, we are here to help you customize your own routine whether it be hair care, skin care or body care… just book a FREE consult with our Holistic Estheticians and we will map any part of this out just for you. This will eliminate all thought in an easy to follow plan.
